METHOD STATEMENT
KEY HANDLING
The front door key is kept in a key safe and the current number if provided by ourselves on the day of arrival. The key must be placed back into the key safe on the day of departure which should be at 10:00am and the numbers jumbled up.
WHAT TO DO IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT
For minor injuries, a first aid kit is located in the kitchen drawer. This facility will be checked regularly and replenished. All accidents, however minor, should be recorded in the accident book located inside the kit. Accidents requiring medical attention, please call 07825 308896 or in an Emergency 999.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES – FIRE AND EVACUATION
The caravan is fitted with fire alarms in both the kitchen and hallway. These are tested on a regular basis.
Should a fire occur in the caravan, a fire extinguisher is provided in the kitchen next to the sink. However, you should ensure that all members of the party are evacuated from the caravan in a safe manner before attempting to put out a fire. Exiting the caravan can be through the main door, french doors to the front or from the window in the main bedroom.
A fire should be reported to Haven Reception on 01395 226226 during opening hours or through to Security on 07825 308896 after hours. If the fire is uncontrollable, call 999 and ask for the fire service without delay.
For safety reasons:
· No barbeques are permitted to be used either inside the caravan or on the veranda including disposable barbeques.
· Smoking or vaping is not permitted inside the caravan but is allowed on the veranda. Any cigarettes must be safely extinguished.
· In the event that the gas fire in the living room is used, this must be turned off before leaving the caravan for any period of time.
· Ensure that all switches on the gas cooker are turned in the off position when not in use.
· Should there be a smell of gas on entering the caravan, you must inform Haven reception immediately and not enter the caravan.
· No prams or buggies are to be put up inside the caravan as this may impede evacuation.
CLEANING
No hazardous cleaning chemicals that require a COSHH assessment will be kept in the caravan. We employ the services of a contractor to ensure that the caravan is in a clean condition on your arrival but would be grateful if you could leave the caravan in a clean and tidy condition on your departure as this may affect the return of your refundable security bond. Please remove any rubbish on departure. Should the caravan not be in a clean condition on arrival please contact us immediately.
RISK ASSESSMENTS & OTHER MATTERS
SLIPS, TRIPS AND FALLS
1.The concrete pathway and grass parking area may become slippery when wet, therefore extra care should be taken when walking on these areas.
2.The veranda, decking and steps will also be slippery when wet, therefore extra care should be taken when walking in these areas particularly after rain or in the morning or evenings.
3.Bath mats have not been provided in the bathrooms as these may cause a slip or trip hazard and you should also take care not to slip whilst taking a shower. If water has splashed onto the vinyl floor coverings in either of the bathrooms or kitchen area, this should be cleared away as soon as possible.
4.There are raised levels on the floor at the front door and the french doors which may pose a trip hazard and care should be taken when entering or exiting these areas.
5.It is also advisable for ladies not to wear high-healed shoes either inside the caravan or on the decking as the heels may become trapped between the decking planks or may assist trips and falls inside the caravan.
6.Patio furniture has been provided for your convenience. Please ensure that chairs are folded and taken back into the caravan at night. Young children should be supervised when using the chairs as they are intended for sitting on. Standing, climbing or jumping on the furniture must be resisted as this could cause a slip and fall hazard or a serious accident considering the height of the balcony.
WATER SUPPLIES
Guests are advised that the hot water supply in the bathrooms and kitchen may become hot and there is a risk of scolds or burning. When more than one water outlet is used at the same time, the temperature can fluctuate. Young children should be supervised when using hot water facilities.
CENTRAL HEATING SYSTEM
The caravan has a central heating system located in the cupboard next to the front door. To operate, please use the central dial by raising it to the temperature required. On leaving the caravan for any period or on departure, this dial should be turned to the off ‘freeze’ symbol.
Most of the radiators in the caravan have valves to set the temperature of the radiators. Guests with young children are advised that the surface of these radiators may become hot and therefore present a risk of burning. Children should be informed of the danger and the valves lowered on the radiators where young children have access.
GAS FIRE
Although there is a gas fire in the living room it is strongly advised not to use this facility if you have young children as the surface may get hot and there is a risk of burning.
ELECTRIC CAR CHARGING
Electric cars must be charged via the electric charging points located around the park. Electric cars must not be charged via the caravan as this may cause electrical installation issues and also poses a trip hazard.
SAFETY TESTS
The gas installation safety test is completed on a yearly basis as required by current law by Bourne Leisure.
The portable electrical appliances are tested on a yearly basis.
The mains electrical system will be tested on a 3-year basis by Bourne Leisure as required by current law.
All documentation relating to these tests will be held by the park office.
The carbon monoxide alarm in the living room and fire alarms will be regularly tested and maintained.
INSURANCE
The caravan is insured and documents will be held at the park office. Guests are advised that our insurance only covers our caravan and does not cover your personal belongings including your mode of transportation, accidents, injuries, illness or diseases arising from the hire of the caravan or use of the holiday park, including acts of God or extreme weather conditions. You are therefore strongly advised to seek your own travel holiday insurance for the total length of your stay in our caravan.
